Good grief you guys I don't know what to say. I honestly LOVE the books and I fell in love with all characters of the movie! But.... take a half step back.... those kids screaming and knifing each other.... GEEZ. I gotta admit I was scared of them.ha. When glimmer and crazy knife girl were cackling and stabbing the other kids I covering my eyes, peeking through my fingers every now and then.
I thought it was incredibly well done. LOVEd the Capitol and their make up and clothes. SO good!

Busy life= no media
Funny how media is the 1st thing to go when I am wildly busy! No time for nothin. So what does that say about media? Not a priority? Is it a cherished treat to sit and watch Once upon a Time?
Or is it just a big fat sign for LAZY?

My sister: Rapunzel
You guys it's the cutest thing. My little sister, Sierra, who is a senior in high school, got creative and planned an affordable Rapunzel birthday party... and she is incredible! She plans and brings all the game, she dances, uses the voice, and the girls are in AWE. She is so tender hearted, hysterically witty, and just the best friend you can have. Oh I feel so blessed to know this pretty lady :)

So she had the dress made and she has the hair already but wears a wig also with flowers all in it. ha. She even goes bare foot which is stinking cute! So this is her card and i'm so bummed that I don't have a pic of her in the dress but this is a pic of her.... crazy resemblance huh?
Footloose
Don't you hate when you tell someone a movie is good and then you get together and....awkward because it's riskay? Dang it. Well, matt and i went up to a cabin this weekend and i suggested footloose because I love dancing. I had last seen it in theaters so I didn't remember a ton... well, i felt weird watching it! That movie has SO many innuendos and flat out dirty parts that I felt bad for the 20 people watching with us. Dang, i'm sorry!! So just remember, that movie is surprisingly raunchy.

Lets be, I dont know.. active.
Man, with all this media on my mind like,
'what have i watched, heard, or wanted to see?'
I am thinking a lot about what my weekends are filled with.
And my favorite part of this weekend was going to AIRBORNE in Draper with my family. (Trampoline place)
Best part of my weekend by far!
Thinking back, all the movies I have watched over the years of weekends... gone. Not great enough to have even saved a spot in my memory. But being ACTIVE on the other hand, stored away safe and sound and makes me happier than anything! Don't get me wrong, a movie now and then is nice. But when you have 6 other exuberant siblings like I do, that are always getting the crowd moving, you realize that you never regret going to doing something and interacting over media consumption. Never. Kinda a waste of life if you think back about it... Compared to all of the fun outdoor adventures at least.
So... note to self. Get up off the couch/ bed and kick the dvd player across the room and punch the tv.

Clearplay!
So, my 3 brothers and daddio love action/crazy/intense movies. Most guys do, no surprise. But when you throw my lil' blonde mamma in the mix... their dreams are smashed. My mom raised us on no PG-13's and is so incredibly strong about media. She does not cave. She will walk out of any movie. I think she is too pure, her lil' body and spirit cannot handle it. So what do we do in this dilemma??
Clearplay.
You download the cleaned up version of any movie (PG-13 or R) onto a usb and then watch it on your dvd player. It is great. Win win.
The only complaint I hear from the brothers every now and then is that it's too clean and they don't know how some characters are dead all the sudden because it cleaned that right up! ha

that takes talent
Here I am. Sitting in class. Thinking about a media post. This class is 2.5 hours and we are looking at power points the entire time. I am also doing bloggie stuff. And admiring any pictures that I have of a vacation I have been on... Not going to lie, I've read/sent a few texts to my mister. And it looks like 50% of the class is on facebook... So, similar to our assignment in class, we are knocking out a serious amount of media in 2.5 hours.. thinkin at least double. That takes talent. Dang.

Media Overload...
I just read the sensational talk by Elder Kearon of the Seventy. He delivered it on Valentine's Day for the devotional here. He mentioned something that can hinder our sensitivity to the spirit, similar to what we discussed in class today. He said we may be hurting our relationship with Heavenly Father with a "Poor Digital Diet." I love that! He verbalized that issue well. I think one of the scariest aspects of social networks and media is the time it consumes, so the priorities it has to bump out of the way, and mostly, how excessive media consumption desensitizes us.
Just as Dr. Coyne kept saying, 'be careful.'.... But, what is 'being careful?' How do we set our personal rules and limits? When do we draw the hard line and stick to it? What do you do?

Book
Write a 1-2 page paper discussing your favorite book as a child or adolescent, and then your favorite book now. Spend one paragraph describing both books, and then go into detail about why this book was your favorite and what impact it had on your life. Post portions of this on your blog (can count for the blog assignment that week).
When I was younger my dad promised my siblings and me that whenever we finished a chapter book he would give us a crisp, new 2$ bill. This worked for 5 of the 7 of us. There are 2 members of my family who just would rather die before sitting down to read for hours. The 5 of us though, sometimes get too invested, and you wouldn’t be able to find us for days at a time because we were finishing up a series. I still have a fat stack of 2$ bills from all the reading I did with that incentive. I went through phases of Harry Potter and of fantastical books, but one that I felt I connected with, and could be her someday, was Nancy Drew. Those books seem beyond our time but my mom had bought the entire collection at Costco and I got hooked.
Nancy had cute, old fashioned dresses, quick wit and humor, and was bright. Truly the dress section always perked me up. I loved hearing what she was going to be wearing for a day of sleuthing! I was amazed at her independence and knowledge. I also loved that she drove a blue convertible which was obviously the peak of coolness to me. So yes, the mystery intrigued me and would keep me sitting to finish the book before I would go play, but I think the fact that when a pretty, smart, confident girl like Nancy solves the mysteries, I was obsessed.
The last book that had me so emotionally invested that I threw the book with full force, stared it down with tear filled eyes, and then realized I wasn’t actually having to go back into the games with Katniss, has left the biggest impact. The Hunger Games sounds disturbing when you are describing the plot to your mother, but for some reason has been accepted and embraced in my own mind that child sacrifice is just the way of life… when I am in district 13. What I absolutely loved about this book is how quickly the author started with the intense stuff! (Especially the 1st one.) I know it’s cliché’ to even name this book, let alone the fact that I laughed, cried, and was physically exhausted or felt famished during the games. Not normal. Is it?
Hunger Games was introduced to my by my oldest brother and he would check up on my progress so we could discuss it. It spread through all 5 of us who love to read and became the most exciting dinner conversation. I continued to build it up in my mind because this was now a family activity, even until the disappointing 3rd book. It has been long enough now, that I can say it was no good, but at the time I stood by Suzanne Collins. I can say my heart rate will not raise just talking about it. But I can’t say that it wasn’t the most intense and thrilling book I have read in the last few years.

Lds.org
The more I learn about all the church is doing, the more I know this work is inspired by the Lord! I just watched President Packer's seminary broadcast and it is powerful. I love how straight forward, 'so we cannot misunderstand.' This is my kind of media!

(lil' tip that has really helped me: if I have a discouraging, messy apartment to clean, and I listen to conference talks like this while I do it... I am totally energized and it cheers me up to enjoy it. Try it! I love that our church is so up to date with combating the trashy media with good. Stuff like this and mormon messages, ooo I am so proud to be a mormon!! And way to go Mitt!!! WOOHOOOO

Vote: Pinterest or No
Alright. I do not have it. I have never even seen how it works... I hear good things from good people. I hear frightening things from addicted people. Should I look into it? Is it really the greatest? Let me know.

Dave Ramsey
I knew that I was a true married lady when I listened to talk radio during my commutes. I drive a lot and needed to have something better distract me than music. So I began listening to the man who talks like my own dad in every way. The hint of accent, his humor, wisdom, and same exact take on finances. He has raised my 6 other siblings and me on these concepts. So we have all heard of Mr. Ramsey since we were little, but now I was going to learn what all the fuss is about. So I listened to his radio shows and then my mom gave me his Financial Peace University on cd. I recently finished his 23 or so cds of about 45 minutes each and honestly, that is the kind of media that is thought changing and heart changing....so.. life changing. Sounds cheesy even to my ears, but it's true. He simplifies one of the hugest aspects of our lives that could potentially control it. He makes you laugh out loud the entire time! But it has been a huge blessing in my life. I know it seems like an odd thing to get excited about, but he gives you such a healthy perspective on finances and how to wisely handle it to basically.... get ahead. Dave often says, "live like no one else, so you can live like no one else." It gets you excited to live frugally!! So, try listening to him one time, he is fantastic!

wedding video
No worries, I'm not posting mine. I'm just telling everyone to get one!!!!! My best friend recently told me that is not a priority so.... they arent doing one. I am heart broken because it truly is my favorite thing from my wedding. It brings back the feeling better than any pic can. I searched and searched for my favorite videographer.. found him. Nathan Pickett. He is a miracle worker :) I know I know, people will argue for a certain other in Provo... but Nathan is still my personal favorite :) Im telling you, cut out a different expense if needed, your wedding video is too priceless. You will not regret it :)

Revenge got me

When I saw the Revenge previews I was totally unimpressed. And then the main picture is Emily Thorne with black spikes poking everywhere... no thanks.
haha I am a big fan now! I watched it and now cannot miss I week, which I rarely do with a tv show. Hooked.
So for those of you who haven't seen it, check it out. For those of you who are fans, what do you think it will end like? Geez she is kinda nuts huh?
Oh and I love Nolan. He makes me laugh with his quirky bobble head and one liners.

ooo give me the chills!
i couldn't decide what clip i wanted to put for my favorite tv show shout out ( so you think you can dance). there are soo many that i just die for! i finally decided to put up Lauren Frodermans compilation of solos, she was last years winner. they all are phenominal. fyi: the first 30 second routine is a lil' hoochie... it gets better and better after that, just keep going and you will be impressed. ps. she is tied for 1st in my mind of my personal favories, allison holker sometimes tops her... now get ready to want to bust a move after this.
